The blurb for this story says, "Ross did everything Adam asked of him..." So I was surprised to find out that Adam had actually blackmailed Ross into doing all the things he had done. (And Ross stayed with him. Whatever.) Ross has not lost his fiancee, and according to Adam, he 'ruined Ross's life' for his own good. So....Adam decides what is best and no care at all for what Ross has said. mehAnd within just a few sentences of the book opening, Ross is choking Adam until Adam is unconscious. I thought maybe Adam was dead and started to wonder what kind of book I had accidentally downloaded. :(
ON THE POSITIVE side: this book was written to raise money for LGBT marriage equality campaigns (or something like that.) That's a very nice positive, in my book.

I have read several books by Josh Canyon, and I've yet to be disappointed. This short story was simply perfect.
A single scene of confrontation almost two years into a secret relationship. Short, but really good and well written.
So many things in this short story don't make a lot of sense but I guess the heart wants what the heart wants.
4.5 stars. It always amazes me how much emotion Josh's stories elicit in such a short space. In this one, a young man tries to convince his older lover to give their love a chance, out of the closet, and he does so by some unusual means. From the first page i was completely drawn into their story, oscillating between hope and tears and more hope. I always appreciate the fact that Josh's characters are flawed yet mature, and resolve their conflicts through genuine communication. And so sweet!
A nice short read. A little different from the Lanyon-norm since there's no mystery or crime in sight (or not really since there is some blackmail.) But here the focus is on the bitter and angry reunion of two lovers and how they sort out their feelings for each other as well as how they want to live their lives--up-front and out, or in the closet.
At 18 pages, it's a quick read, a little sad in tone, but with a nice ending. If you're already a Lanyon fan, you'll probably enjoy this short story very much.
This one has me perplexed...possible spoilers...Adam blackmails Ross & Ross forgives Adam (implied by the continued relationship). Adam 'outs' Ross ruining his relationship with his fiancée...Ross throttles Adam until Adam passes out. Is that attempted murder or grievous bodily harm or domestic violence? Adam forgives Ross. Ross still hates Adam for outing him but is so in lust that he can't resist making sweet love. They live happily ever after. Is this short story like a 'what not to do' guide to romance? Where is the romance in manipulation, blackmail, physical abuse & coercion? Did I read the same story as the other reviewers? Just odd.
Not really okay with the whole I love you but I was so angry that I choked you until you passed out earlier in the story. Physical violence like that from someone who loves you is a little creepy and messed up.
